The 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant
After-school clubs at Stevens Elementary are made possible through the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) competitive grant program authorized under Title IV, Part B, of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015.
The purpose of this Colorado Department of Education (CDE) program is to establish or expand community learning centers that do the following:
- Provide opportunities for academic enrichment
- This includes tutoring services to help students meet state and local student performance standards in core academic subjects such as reading, writing and mathematics.
- Offer students a broad array of additional services, programs and activities designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic program of participating students.
- Offer families of students served by community learning centers opportunities for active and meaningful engagement in their children’s education
