Gifted & Talented
Stevens Elementary provides programming for exceptional learners who require special provisions to meet their educational needs.
Advanced Learning Plan
Stevens Elementary develops an Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) to guide programming for every identified gifted student.
Stevens Elementary Adopts Student-Centered GT Method
Stevens Elementary Gifted and Talented (GT) center maximizes giftedness by helping students discover their passion through real-world, project-based learning. Our GT team has often witnessed the tragedy of unrealized potential among the ranks of gifted and talented learners. Disenchanted with the traditional approach to educating GT students, the Stevens GT team has adopted student-centered methods that elicit creativity and promote higher-level thinking.
GT students are part of whole-school culture norms that advance inclusivity with diverse learners in their homeroom classrooms.
Identified GT and talent pool students participate in primary or intermediate Science, Technology, Art, Engineering and Math (STEAM) labs, where they receive advanced core instruction in literacy and math, along with project-based learning rooted in common STEAM concepts.
The Stevens STEAM Labs use technology resources such as TinkerCad, 3D printers, Lego education sets and Sphero robot balls to work on projects that are designed for students to collaboratively analyze, problem-solve and think creatively.

Gifted & Talented in Jeffco
The Jeffco Public Schools Gifted and Talented (GT) Department’s vision is to Actualize Learners’ Potential for gifted and high-ability learners through a focus on access, equity, inclusion and diversity. All students deserve an education that provides meaningful growth academically, socially and emotionally.
Each year, every second grader in Jeffco takes The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) which measures reasoning skills with different types of verbal, quantitative and nonverbal questions. The results of this test inform teachers which students may be identified as gifted and talented.
