Sensory Paths Prepare Students for Learning
Posted on 08/23/2019

This past summer, Stevens Elementary installed two sensory paths, one in the primary hallway and another, upstairs in the intermediate wing.  These movement focused pathways are intended to connect the left and right hemispheres of students' brains and prepare them to learn.  Research supports the idea that movement opens the blood vessels in the body and increases blood flow to the brain thereby, increasing memory, attention and focus.  Along with flexible seating in the classroom, the sensory paths are just one of many ways that Stevens nurtures the whole child.
