If you know your student is going to be tardy or absent, you must call the attendance line to notify Stevens Elementary before 8:30 a.m. The attendance line is available 24 hours a day.

When calling the attendance line, please give the following information:

Attendance line follow-up

At 8:30 a.m., we check the attendance line for messages from parents and guardians.

When there is no message from a parent or guardian regarding an absence, we will call the parent or guardian and ask the reason for the absence or leave a message If no one answers.

We will call every parent or guardian number on file.

If a voice message cannot be left, then expect an email.
- If we haven’t reached a parent or guardian in 30 minutes, we will call all the emergency contact numbers in the student’s account.
- Check if anyone knows why the student is not in school or where the parent or guardian can contacted.

The importance of regular, daily school attendance as a basis for academic achievement cannot be overemphasized. Attendance is a shared responsibility of the student, the families and the school.

It is the family’s responsibility to ensure their student attends school and to notify the school when their student is absent for a legitimate reason, such as an illness or family emergency. Each family should also ensure their student’s school has their correct contact information so that the school is able to communicate about any attendance issues that may arise.
